How many friends do you have? Well I have more then one obviously, How about you? Friends to me is people that can help you if you're struggling at anything. They will always be there next to you, Helpful and respectful. I have about 14 friends that I can look up to at my school but many more away from school to.  

How many friends have you made a week? To be honest I make about two to three friends a week. Its pretty cool making new friends because you can learn more things about them and maybe do what they do for a living. Usually when I make friends I tell them what my hobbies are and what i’m good at.

Have you ever got in trouble and your friends sticks up for you? Isn't that what friends are supposed to do. If you stick up for your friends maybe they'll do or give something good to you. What I do with my friends are play some sports, sing some songs with the guitar maybe even go to the pools when school has finished.

If you help your friends maybe you can get something out of it. If you don’t , The one thing that you can get is feeling happy about yourself for helping them. You might not know, Maybe they will give you something in return, Then you’ll feel really happy.  

Tukutuku Patterns

Hey guys This is just some other maths task that I got given from my teacher. These questions are based on crosses. I've already solved the question. You see, in one group there are three crosses and in the other group there are six crosses and if you keep on counting you can see that this question is about counting on in threes

Sticking Around

This is some of my maths problems that I was given, it was called "Sticking Around" as you can see the first question is a fence that is made out of sticks. If you are very good at algebra then you can figure out the rest of the questions. But we are just working on the very first question.

Diving Description and Explanation

As she stood steady on the diving board there was a huge pause in the crowd. She balanced with concentration, taking huge and deep breaths and off she went.She taught her body difficult maneuvers and timed to precision. She sliced through the water with a clean entry.

Did you know that diving has been in the commonwealth games since 1904. That means this sport has been in it for about 110 years, that is quite a long time. The way that the judges judge theme is how many flips and twist they do and 3 points for the take off and 3 points for the flight and 3 points for the entry if they do it perfect. They could come first place.

The Civic Theater

Did you know that only 35 student from Pt England School out of the year sevens and eights gotta chances to go to town to the Civic Theater. We got to watch animated movies shared from multiple countries around the world. We watched animations from China, Netherlands, Africa ,France and many more also including New Zealand.

We got to go on a bus which i’m really use to because nearly every trip we've gone on we always ride on a bus. It was really cool because we sang heaps of songs.    

My Favourite Animated Movie was about giraffes diving into a pool which was weird but also very funny at the same time. My second favourite movie was called The Numberlys. The Numberlys were a group of five people.

Science Explanation

Echolocation

Echolocation:
Did you know that Bats uses echolocation. If you don’t know what it is well echolocation is locating with sound. You’ll have be very clever too know how to use this kind of technique.

Bats:

Bats use echolocation to use echolocation you have to locate anything in front of them and anything on the side of them too. Bats create noises with their noses and the noise creates sound waves that hits an object and rebounds to them and they know how far away the object is and how close the object is also what kind of size it too.


Ben:




There are very few people that use echolocation. But there is a teenager called Ben Underwood who had lost his eyes by cancer when he was three years old. So as years past through, one day him and his mother were riding in there car and past big buildings Ben says to his mum “ Mum can you see that big building out there” his mum was shocked when she heard him say that and his mum replied “I can but can you” that's when he could use echolocation.


When I finished watching the video about a Ben I thought to myself “if I close my eyes and make random noises will it rebound off the wall ?” Ben is just a normal teenager but he just doesn't have eyes to see. I never knew echolocation could help people that a blind could get them around place’s.

Emily overheard her sister Laura on the phone saying that they were going to the mall. Emily, ran into Laura’s room saying “Can I come? Can I come?”

Laura said “NO you're too young you don’t know what you’re doing.” Suddenly Emily went storming out swearing at her and slammed the door on Laura's face. She locked herself in her room and started punching holes in the wall kicking things, around and then left, to calm down.

Laura thought “Far man that girl is really spoilt and she wants to come with me?”

Emily felt nervous about asking to go to the mall. Emilys heart was pounding as she went in to Laura room her legs started wobbling as she was so nervous she felt like she was going pee her pants and when Emily asked to go to the mall with Laura she said “sure i'll take you out for the day”

Mary started jumping up and down because her sister Jan was taking her to the mall. Jan was waiting inside her car while Mary was looking for some fresh clothes in a bunch of dirty clothes. It took about half an hour for Mary just to get change by then Jan got very impatient with Mary. Jan started frowning and said “How long is that girl going to be?”if Mary had came out but every time Jan looked out she wasn't coming. Jan got very very angry, then started beeping the horn and started shouting at her to hurry up.


Mary was nervous to go to the mall with Jan, when she asked she said “Jan can I please come with you to the mall? As she asked Mary, Jans legs started shaking because she was so nervous. She was so nervous but when she heard a yes from Mary she just shocked with excitement started jumping up and down until she ran out of breath to be happy any more. When they got into the car she kept on saying thank you over and over again until they reached the mall.

The Point England way

Did you know that the Point England way started in 2000 or 2001, Otalani Meleisa was a former teacher in Point England who found some ideas for the Point England. Before it used to be Belonging to Point England but right now Mr Burt and the teachers changed it to The Point England Way.

What does the Point England way mean to you? Well to me it means to enjoy one another's company, to be happy with one another, and to feel safe here at school. Have you ever heard the three P’s, the three P’s are Partnership, Protection and Participation and they come from the Treaty of Waitangi. The 3P's are what the Point England Way is all about as well.

Every Friday we have an assembly. The first thing we do is we sing the national anthem which is a tradition to our school. We also have a few koreros. Every term Mr Burt always makes up a korero for the rest of the term. A korero is a saying or a phrase that demonstrates how to behave at Point England School. For example so far this year our korero have been 'Put Yourself In Their Shoes' and 'Play in the Right Place'

Concerning this school

First day at school

Today we had 40 minutes to write about our first day of school. From looking at our writing we are going to set some writing goals for the term:

The first day of school felt pretty scary and exciting at the same time because I’ve never  seen heaps of people sitting in one classroom. My first class teacher was Mrs George. she was the kindest teacher I’ve ever met. She gave me paper to draw on while everyone was doing work. when ever I had A little scratch on my knee she would always comfort me.

When the first bell rang for morning tea time I got a little fright because of how loud it was. The bell kept on ringing for about five seconds. When the bell stop ringing everyone in our class ran to their bags to get their morning tea out, so I went to my bag and got morning tea out and sat down on the deck outside of our classroom and started eating.

When I finished eating I asked this boy named James if I could play handball with him? and he said yes. He served the ball to me and I tried to hit the ball back to him but I misted the ball about four to five times on my sixth hit I skimmed him out.

In the weekend

In the weekend my brother and I had a water fight. First we turned on the hose and filled up some bottles with water. Next our next door neighbour asked if they were allowed to play with us.  We said “yes”. After we said yes they sprinted off to get changed.

When they came out I shouted “3,2,1 GO!!!” “SPLISH” “SPLASH” “SPLISH” “SPLASH”. All I heard was the water splashing my face. When all the bottles were empty I refilled it with some more water and splashed some water on my brothers face. After that I sat down for a while then my brother splashed me in the face with water.

My neighbour ran away and hid behind his shed. At first we couldn't find him but then I looked behind the shed I saw him on the ground. He didn’t see me so I splashed him in the face with water.

When we finished playing we had to pack the hose away and the bottles too. After I finished packing everything I went and had a hot shower.    

Four shot movie

Hi my name is Mikaiah me and my partner James is working on A four shot movie. Our story is about a boy gets a cup and gets some boiling water and makes Milo then he drinks the hole thing then puts down his cup and sees his cup still filled with Milo.

Twin Towers Reflaction

Last week on Monday B2 rotated into creative strand. Creative strand is a time when you create cool things. There’s two things you could either do, which are movie making and art Movie making is when you create a movie about an event in history like, The Twin Towers, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and many more things.

I made a short movie about the Twin Towers. I think it’s a minute and a half long. I made a really cool animation about the two planes crashing into the Twin Towers well at least I think it's cool. My sound is really good. I recorded a good voice over but it’s really short. My message is about the tragic destruction that happened to the Twin Towers.

Cross Country

“ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET, GO!!!” Yesterday our whole school had a Cross Country race It was heaps of fun even though It was so tiring. We  had so much fun we got to slide in the mud and puddles of water. We all had to start at school than run half of the field, next we run out of school grounds and run all around the reserve twice.

As I was running I could feel the sun bursting down to my face. I was sweating and tired at the same time. I told myself not to quit and to keep on running. “GO MATATUA”, As I was running I tripped up into the water and got wet from top to bottom .

“ YES!!! ” I'm nearly finished my first lap. As I reached the finish line I heard heaps of people cheering and shouting.YES!!! I’m on my second lap I said to myself in my head.

I was puffing so hard and my heart was beating so fast too. I got a stitch when I was just reached the finished line. When I past the finish line I felt Proud of myself because I finished the race, I was really really tired too.

Hutt Valley Cook island youth

Last week on Saturday me my mum and my brother went to a hall in mangere with a Cook island dancing group so we can meat another Cook island dance group called Hutt Valley Cook island youth. When where in the hall we got to eat first then after the other group comes and eat after as. When they finished eating we get into a group and introduce our self to the hutt valley group.

The first person to stand up and introduce them self was my cousin Andy. She stalled up and said "hi my name is Andy I am 18 years old and I have two younger sisters and two younger brothers. Next up was my cousin Kimerly She said her name how old she was and how many brothers and sisters she had and introduce her dad and mother too.

After she finished introducing her self next it was her brothers turn Ben he said his name and how old he was and introduce his sisters and his brother too. Next it was my turn I stalld up and said hi my name is Mikaiah my brother is Simon and I am 11 years old and turning 12 in September the 26th and I said my mum is Tangata Hopini and my dad is Norman Hopini.

Next after introducing our self all the kids were allowed to play on the playground out side they had two play grounds so I went on the biggest park there and played tag with the other group. After playing tag we played ball rush tag on there court it was really fun playing with the other group because we got to know them better and become friends.

Next we left to go to GI to the Matariki celebration because we were dancing there so we had to get changed into our clothes to dance in. We didn't know that the hutt valley group were coming to watch as. when we were ready we waited for the drummers to give the signal for as to walk up and dance.

After waiting we herd the drums playing so we quickly got into lines and walked on the grass and started dancing. First it was all the boy and girls but for the next dance it was just the girls. Next when we finished dancing it was just the girls next after the girls finished dancing we did the last dance witch was all of as together. so we stalled in our lines and started dance.

When we finished every body that was at the Matariki counted down for the fireworks to explode in mid air. So every body started counting down 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 "BLASTOFF"!!! as we all screamed through the air. We started packing up when the fireworks were going. We stayed until the fireworks stop, when it stopped we went and said god bye to the other group and we all went home.
